Anna Meares Velodrome
The Anna Meares Velodrome, named after the celebrated Australian cycling champion, is a world-class cycling facility, purpose-built as a centrepiece for the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games. Designed with a lasting legacy in mind, it serves both elite athletes and the wider community. The $58 million venue features a 250-metre indoor cycling track, seating for 4,000 spectators, and a central multipurpose court, enabling a wide range of indoor sports and community events.

Wayfinding is designed to respect the architectural integrity of the building’s spatial and volumetric composition. Rooted in the aesthetics of cycling, the graphic language draws from bicycle geometry, motion, and track markings. A considered use of typography and placement underlines the track as the heart of the building, shaping and anchoring everything around it.

The visitor wayfinding, seating, and block numbering strategy was designed to function seamlessly in both Commonwealth Games mode and legacy mode, while also accommodating event-specific overlays. This approach ensures the arena remains easy to manage and operate both during daily use and major events.
