Float On
The River Access Network builds on Brisbane City Council’s River’s Edge Strategy, improving both access and activity on and alongside the inner-city reaches of the Brisbane River.
The River Access Network hubs allow users to:
- launch passive crafts such as kayaks, canoes and stand-up paddleboards
- short-term use for motorised recreational vessels
- potential future water taxi pick-up and drop-off points
- pick-up and drop-off for commercial vessels
- a rest point or destination within a network of other public pontoons
- opportunities for tour boat operators to pick-up and drop-off passengers
To assist with the roll out of the hubs throughout the River Access Network, Dotdash designed a comprehensive set of signage design guidelines. This included graphic standards and the development of identification, information, directional, regulatory and facility management signage.
Council has successfully completed river and recreation hubs at City Botanic Gardens in Brisbane City, Dutton Park, Kingsford Smith Drive in Hamilton, Murarrie, Newcomb Park at Riverhills, Northshore Hamilton and West End.
