University of New England gateways

The University of New England (UNE) is located in the Armidale region of central NSW, and was the first university in Australia to be established outside a capital city.

For UNE, Dot Dash designed two gateway signs for the main campus.Our aim was to create a sharp contemporary insertion in this rural setting, that would not only identified the UNE but also express its future direction.

The design is based on the new UNE logo, with stencil letters cut through two pairs of thick stainless steel blades, and a green in-fill of colour-back glass.

The gateways have distinctively different day-time and night-time characters. During the day they sit comfortably in their bushland context. At night, they become brilliant green beacons to attract the visitor.
