Director
Despina Macris
What began as a fascination with signs on long road trips around Australia as a young girl, has become a career spanning over thirty years.
Despina’s areas of expertise are in developing Visual Languages that respond to how Wayfinding Strategies are communicated in the built environment.
She focuses on the relationships between Spatial Design and Visual Communication - typography, colour and graphic design. She uses her knowledge and expertise to design clear visual responses to contextual evidence. Her work reflects her belief in the importance of connecting people to place and in doing so building authentic identity.
Despina is an active member of the Society of Experiential Graphic Design (USA), International Institute of Information Design (Zurich), Sign Design Society (UK), and the Colour Society of Australia.
She is co-chair for the Queensland Chapter of the Society for Experiential Graphic Design (SEGD).
Despina has presented at the SEGD 2015 International Conference in Chicago, Liveable Conference Melbourne, SOM San Francisco, DIA and Creative Morning Australia.
In 2016, Despina was asked to be an international judge on the SEGD 2016 Global Design Awards. She was part of the jury for the 2018 AGDA Design Awards and was recently asked to be part of the judging panel for the 2019 Latvian Design Awards.
