The Barracks is a mixed use development in Brisbane includes a commercial tower, retail, cinema, refurbished heritage building and underground carpark.
The concept reflected the historical character of the site and addressed the needs of the various user groups.
Approprate materials, fonts and forms were selected to complement the mixture of modern and traditional architecture. Column colours and large scale retail graphics where designed to brighten the car park and extend the retail experience.
Interpretive signs were developed together with a local historian who provided insight to heritage signifance of the site, including the old gaol, Police Barracks, Stables, garage and workshop.
